laser eye surgery halo effect
laser eye surgery halo effect
Are Optical Exams completed by luck to obtain 20 / 20 vision? or 20/15?
I used to have corrected vision to 20 / 25 until I had laser surgery, now I have trouble with many task. such as reading… and was curious to see if anyone had some insight on the brain as it pertains to the eye, vision. I have occipital lobe damage. from a gsw in Viet Nam. any suggestions if I may ever see again.
also anyone experience a “halo” effect afterwards.?
If you served our country (and thank you so much for that service) in Vietnam then you are probably in your mid 50′s or so. That means that you have lost pretty much all of your ability to adjust the focus of your eyes due to an aging process called presbyopia ( this would have happened whether or not you had laser). When you have laser vision correction on both eyes in order to see clearly at distance then you will unavoidably loose your ability to see clearly at near for tasks such as reading, computers, etc.
This really doesn’t have anything to do with your brain. It has to do with your age. And, yes, halos are a frequently noticed side effect of laser vision correction. Most will see some improvement in their haloing for about 3 months or so. After that time the amount of haloing you have will probably remain constant. I had laser vision correction done about 12 years ago and still have some halos but I wouldn’t go back to the way I was for anything. Hope this helped. And again thanks for all you have done for our country.
