To those who wear contact lenses?
i went last week to the eye doctor and found out i have to start wearing glasses, until i can make a eye laser surgery.i told my doctor that i want to wear contact lenses too, besides the glasses.so tomorrow i’m going to her office and she will put a pair of contacts in my eyes for the first time.if my eyes can’t adjust to them, then i won’t be allowed to wear them at all.what should i be expecting when they will be put in my eyes for the first time?will it hurt really bad?also she told me it would be better to wear glasses more often than contacts, because if i’m not very careful i could scratch my cornea or get an infection.to those who have been wearing contacts how long did it take you to adjust to them?did you ever get infections?also how much do you wear them?like daily,a few times per week, etc.
For the first time, it should not hurt unless you have a scratch, something in your eye, etc. When I went to the doctor to get contacts, It was not uncomfortable at all! The only thing wrong was that I was not used to touching my eye, so when they tried to put them in, I was SO blinky / jumpy! After they put them in, I was told to take them out. After I took them out, I had to put them in by myself. And I only had ONE contact, because of my eyes. It took me about 30 minutes to get that contact in. But once it was in, it looked kind of blurry for vision. That is only because of the liquid on the contact. if that happens, don’t worry. it will go away. But it took me TWO DAYS to get used to and have them in for a full day.
I now wear my contacts everyday of the week. I have had contacts for a little less than a year, and I love them. I have NEVER gotten an infection. The only reason you’ll get an infection is if:
1. You don’t wash your hands when you put in or take out your contacts.
2. Your contacts have a scratch on them filled with dirt. Don’t worry, if there is a scratch you’ll feel it.
3. You don’t rinse your contacts with solution before you put them in your eye.
Hope this helped! Good luck, and don’t worry!
