How likely to get a refund from Optical Express?
I purchased a pair of glasses from Optical Express (Meadowhall, Sheffield) about 2 weeks ago and got them 4 days ago. However, after wearing them for 2 full days, I have slight migraine. I will see if the same problem persists for a few more days then call them up for a re-test and see if the prescriptions are incorrect. But I wonder if I can request a refund at all? It is because i find their service rather poor, the eye test was short (i felt like the optometrist was in a hurry!), and I found a scratch on the frame after I got home and I can see that they tried to cover it with some kind of ink…! I am very shortsighted and so the lenses were those ultra thin and light ones, and I did choose a designer frame (I am not happy to have paid £150 for a designer frame which is scratched!! which im pretty sure it wasn’t like that when I first checked them before paying). The glasses were about £340 (although they gave me a discount).
It helps your case that you had an eye exam at the same place you got the glasses so you can say you don’t like the prescription as well as the service. You may run into the problem that they could say you scratched the frame since you’ve had them at home, so you may lose that battle. You could try going back to the store or see if they have a customer service number or website to file a complaint about your whole experience. You may also get store credit.
