Introduction Of Three Laser Eye Surgeries That Are Popular
Laser eye surgeries are overwhelming the vision correction industry. Usually facing so many kinds of laser eye surgeries of different types, people are hard to make a choice of which one is better. This text aims at introducing three popular laser eye surgeries in the United States. They are:
1. LASIK
LASIK, with the full name of Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, achieves to correcting eyesight by applying a special knife or laser to create a corneal flap , so as to ablate proper amounts of corneal tissue. This is called the procedure of cornea reshaping, after which the flap will be replaced. There is almost no risk of general anesthetic, neither risk of leaving a scar, therefore, you are able to go back to your normal life as soon as the surgery is accomplished. Another feature of lasik for the popularity is that about 15 minutes are enough for the operation on each eye, and the patients rarely feel painful.
2. LASEK
LASEK, with the full name of Laser-Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy or Laser Epithelial Keratomileusis, is an innovation in laser eye surgeries. As LASIK is not suitable for certain group of patients, LASEK solves this problem by providing a viable alternative for those patients. During the procedure, a trephine is used to create an epithelial flap which is not as deep as what the LASIK creates, that is to say, lasek preserves more corneal tissue that the traditional LASIK. Therefore, for those who have thin corneas, LASEK could be their best choice.
3. PRK
PRK, with the full name of Photorefractive Keratectomy, are popular for the feature of no creation of corneal flap. There is no knife, microkeratome, or cutting laser performed. During the whole procedure, a excimer laser controlled by a computer is applied to remove the epithelium or surface layer of the cornea, achieve the reshaping of the cornea. However, unlike LASIK, PRK takes more time for one to recovery—-at least 30 days are needed and the patients could feel a little bit painful during the operation.

I am sick of wearing eyeglasses. So, is there a cure to myopia?
I tend to resent wearing eyeglasses. They make me look different for the worse yet I need them nearly all the time for vision correction in distances. They always go slightly blurry. Every time when I wipe them and put them back on, everything looks so much clearer and yet, this is standard for people fortunate enough to have normal vision. I always have to wipe them when they get wet and with more effort as they get even blurrier when I do not wipe them well enough.
Having contact lens is a considerable alternative though one with more responsibilities as I have seen my older brother take his time in the toilet applying them whereas with eyeglasses, you just wear them on and that is it. I am not sure about laser eye surgery though my brother said that only adults can get it and I am only 16. There has to be some cure to myopia…
In order to improve you have to do exercises and learn how to use the right glasses at the right moment glasses (i.e. undercorrections). It takes time and patience, but it’s the only real solution. Laser surgery does NOT cure anything. It simply turns your cornea into a corrective lens, but your eyes remains myopic (longer than normal) exactly as they are now: Since the operation is not a cure some people have bad eyesight again after some time.
