and laser eye surgery
Should I use reading glasses after laser eye surgery?

I uslaser eye surgeryted. I now have good vision from laser eye surgery. If I use the computer or read books a lot, will I become nearsighted again?

Should I use reading glasses to protect my eyes? I can focus at both close and distant objects but I can feel my eyes readjusting every time I look at close objects.

Depends on what type of surgery you had done.

If you just had surgery to correct your short-sight, then eventually when you get older 45 – 50 (depends how old you are now) you will need reading glasses anyway. But you only need the reading glasses when you find it difficult to read things up close.

If you use the computer/read books a lot this will NOT make you short-sighted again- don’t worry, your vision has been corrected and you are like a normal person with perfect vision.

But as I said all adults once they reach 45-50 need reading glasses regardless of their near/distance vision.

You will feel your eyes adjusting obviously, that’s perfectly normal after laser surgery.

Don’t worry, if you are at the stage where you need reading glasses then wear them when reading, but for distance and near your vision should be fine and you cannot become short-sighted again.

Hope that helps.
