what happens in laser surgery towards the eyes??

to help short sightedness
and does it help to start at trees 1km away for 8hrs a day to help shortsightedness?

When eyesight goes bad, what happens is the cornea gets a lot of grooves in it. The eye tries to heal itself, and ends up blurring your vision with a goo that fills in the grooves.

Lasic surgury is similar to shaving off the cornea (much more accurate than using a razor of any sort, though. It will take off the goo and flatten out the grooves. this makes your vision good again. This is why not everyone can get lasic surgery, since not all cases of poor vision are caused by what I mentioned.

It doesn’t help to stare at anything, in fact that “hurts”. The best way to improve your eyesight is by getting blood flow to them. If you close your eyes and dart them around as fast as you can they will get more blood flow (and some of that goo from healing itself comes off too). Do that until your eyes are a little sore (note LITTLE sore) each day and after a year or so your vision will improve.
