How can i help my eyes even though im short sighted?

I am short sighted, found out 1 year ago when i started learning to drive, now past my test but i was thinking of how anoying it is to not be able to see properly. I would pay anything to see perfectly. Although im such a chicken and rellyl skwirmish about eyes, i couldn’t go through with laser eye surgery or even putting contact lenses in, glasses are ok but it gets annoying i wish i felt more free.
Ive heard rumours, like sleep weel at nigth, put cucumbers on your eyes and so on but is there anything small i can do to help my vision, i think ive got very bad sight, i cant see a clock across my office which is about 5meters across.
