laser eye surgery with astigmatism

Laser eye surgery / astigmatism?

Im 26 and i have pretty poor eyesight. due to fairly sever short sightedness and an astigmatism in both eyes. anyone out there know if its possible for laser eye surgery with astigmatism? any experiences? any advice?

i do have prescription glasses but im reluctant to use them because i do not want to become dependent on them and also they always seem to feel to strong for me.

In reverse order: if the glasses feel too strong they need adjusting for fit, or the Rx reviewing.

You cannot become medically dependent on your glasses.
Using them does not weaken your eyes.
That they deliver better vision does tend to point up the contrasat with unaided vsion, however, especially if you’ve not worn them for a while. People tend to forget what they’re *not* seeing.

Astigmatic correction, within certain limits, is possible with laser refractive surgery. A good laser surgery clinic will advise on the risks, and whether or not your Rx and astigmatism makes you good or poor candidate. (There are other factors too, which can make a difference: pupil size, corneal thickness, tear quality…)
