Are a lot of people ineligible for Laser Eye Surgery?

For all those with something to do with the field, do you find a lot of people walking in there who show up as ineligible during pre-op testing, or is it more of a rarity? I’m wondering since I’m planning on it (my prescription’s -3.5), and my cousin got it done and mentioned a few words about the copious amount of testing involved in getting cleared for the procedure.

I am one happy person blessed who got my laser eye surgery done 10 years ago.
While laser eye surgery is touted as being an end-all for vision problems it may be ineligible to many people. There are some basic qualifications to be eligible for laser surgery as well as some specific needs. Persons must be at least 18 years of age and up to age 70 and have stable vision.
Both eyes will undergo assessment for being able to withstand the procedure, including the thickness of the cornea. Corneas that are too thin to undergo the procedure will not be accepted. The vision problem must be correctable, such as nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism.
Pregnant women and nursing mothers are restricted. There may also be restrictions on those that have, or previously suffered eye problems not related to their need for glasses or contacts.
As with most surgical procedures there are certain risks and with laser eye surgery the potential for permanent eye damage and possible blindness. Anyone considering laser eye surgery must understand all the benefits and risks of the operation and should be made fully aware of the procedure before going to the laser eye surgery.
