Eye Glasses for kids, for how long they have to use them?

My 4 year old son has been detected with Myopia and Astigmatism. Doctor has prescribed for eye glasses to cure it and said that he has to wear it for his whole life. Is it really required or it can be treated by laser surgery of any other treatment. Please answer. Thanks

The glasses don’t “cure” the problem, they provide correction for the problem. Because your son is so young, he will most likely have changes in his prescription as he grows. It can be treated with Laser surgery, but you would probably have to wait until your child is in his late teens. Laser surgery is also expensive. I was quoted $2,000 per eye last time I checked, and it is not covered by most medical insurances.
