laser eye surgery near sighted

Im thinking about getting laser eye surgery done?
I was thinking about getting it done in the near future, but im kinda scared. I know that there are big risk, and if they messed up, or something went wrong, i could lose my sight. Has anyone got it done? Is it worth the risk? and is there anybody that has had it done and it went wrong? and what were the consequences? I really would like to know, because it would make life a whole lot easier. i run track, and i get tired of always having to put in my contacts to run. So if theres anyone that could lend me some advise from experience, or if a friend or family member has had the surgery and told you about it, it would help alot.
As long as you go to a good doctor, a reputable doctor, things should be fine…
I have seen cases before where the doctor did not do the measurements properly and that caused the patient to have complications. Most of the time its due to the cornea not being thick enough. ( the doctor i work for will not operate unless the pachymetery reading is above 500 microns per eye)
And Dryness is also another complication after surgery- since the cornea is disrupted it causes the eye to not produce tears normally, and it takes a few months for that to function properly again. (more in women then men, women naturally produce less tears then men) We have found that by us starting our patients on Restasis 3-4 montlasikior to lasik surgery the dryness is severely reduced.
The lasik procedure we use is called IntraLase- Its a blade less procedure which is almost fully computerized, which means less room for error, and amazing results.

Good luck…. Its worth it in my opinion… I love to see how happy the patients are at their one day post op… Its what makes me absolutly love my job…
