The Importance of Finding a Good Lasik Surgeon for Your Lasik Procedure
There are many factors that you need to take into consideration when you are looking for a lasik surgeon, and it is incredibly important that you take all of these into serious thought if you are even simply considering having the lasik procedure done; finding a good Lasik surgeon can absolutely be considered as the most crucial part of the lasikss.
Finding a Good Lasik Surgeon
Finding a good lasik surgeon truly does not have to be a seriously difficult process, however there should be ample time and effort put into the matter. If you are wondering how you should go about the process of finding a lasik surgeon, then you should read on to find out the best ideas.
First of all, you need to know that you should never assume too much from advertising; in other words, just because something looks good because of the way that it is advertised, this certainly does not go to say that you should automatically assume that they are worthy. After all, there are enough companies out there that have great advertising schemes and yet who are truly not capable.
A great idea is to ask for referrals, such as from your regular eyecare practitioner, who will be able to direct you towards the best surgeon in your area that would be able to take you on and complete the procedure for you.
Also, once you have found a surgeon that you may be interested in, you want to know that there are certain things that you will want to ask them during your consultation, such as: how long they have been performing the procedure for, how many total procedures they have done, what percentage of those patients achieved 20/20 vision or better, whether or not they have ever had malpractice insurance coverage denied – these are just examples, you can also come up with your own.
The most important thing to remember is that this procedure, as with any other, will be a major decision of your life, and so you will want to take all the time and consideration that is needed in order for you to feel comfortable and in order for you to be able to be sure that you will be in the best hands that you possibly can be.
More information about the right surgeon can be found on your favorite search engine. Don’t forget the phone book; it is a good starting point, at least to find names of surgeons in your area.

I was wondering if a person with -1.00 contact prescription would be a good candidate for LASIK?
I saw my optometrist a while ago for a check-up and I had asked him about it and he said my vision was too good. A couple of years ago, an optometrist said he could give me a good recommendation for a Lasik Surgeon. I’m confused and I can’t find anything about it on the web.
Anyone with a negative diopter prescription is, in theory a good candidate for Lasik surgery. That being said most optometrist won’t recommend it while you’re only “mildly” myopic…. and -1.00 is still pretty mild….its the near sited version of just needing reading reading glasses.
You might be able to talk to another doctor and talk him into it but I wouldn’t count on any cooperation from your insurance.
