laser eye surgery for lattice

2 years ago I underwent retinal detatchment surgery,I now only have partial vision in my left eye?

Yesterday I went for my check up at the opthamologists and has found two weak spots(lattice) in my right eye at the moment they are looking ok but he said for my peace of mind he could do some laser to strengthen the weak areas,I have heard lots of stories against doing this but at the same time I don’t want to regret not doing it in case of another detatchment.Has anyone been through this?

I have not personally been through the procedure but I do believe it would be wise to “tack down” these areas of lattice given you history. The surgeon will use an argon laser to heat the tissue and cause it to scar down to the underlying tissue and should dramatically decrease the risk of these areas eventually detaching.
