Is laser surgery permanent?

I currently use thin lens eyeglasses. If I got eye surgery, would it be permanent or would it wear out in ___ years?

It lasts for a good amount of time… but at a point you may need reading glasses when you are older. I know someone who had it done and they couldn’t be happier with their results!
