Celluvisc eye drops/Dry eyes syndrome?
Hello
I’d just like to ask your opinion on something please!
I recently got left with a very uncomfortable bout of ‘dry eyes’ from bacterial conjunctivitis.
I went to hospital as it gave me severe headaches and constant burning.
My doctor prescribed me Celluvisc 1% eye drops and Lacri lube ointment for the night. She told me to apply the drops 4 times a day and the ointment nightly. She also said I could wear my contact lenses and eye make-up again in about a week. That week is more or less over, and I want to wear my contact lenses again but the eye drops say I have to take my contacts out and wait 15 minutes to put them back in whilst using the eye drops. But I wear daily disposables, so I can’t do that.
I read somewhere that the eye drops contain a preservative that can stick to soft lenses, but is this really a risk? Can I just use them both together? What do you think?
Or even whatever advice/experience you’ve had with similar problems.
Thanks very much & for reading!
Cel-U-Visc is preservative free unless there is some version of it that is available in the UK that is not here. Again based on products that are available in the US, if it comes in unit dose containers, it is preservative free. Most people would have issues using Cel-U-Visc during the day because it is so thick. It may gunk up your contacts a bit. This is less of an issue because you are wearing dailies. There are also products designed specifically for use with contacts although none of them will be as thick as Cel-U-Visc. In general when it comes to lubricant drops, the thicker it is, the longer it stays around. The thicker it is, the more it messes up your vision.
