How long does laser eye surgery last?

I am considering getting it done because contacts and glasses can be a big pain at times.

I remember my grandpa got it YEARS ago when it just came out and it only lasted him about 3 years i think. Well i know it has gotten much better but how long does it typically last now a days?

The expected result of laser refractive surgery is to make you see like someone your age that never needed glasses. Most people need glasses to read when they get into their forties even if they did not need them before. Some people feel that when they need glasses again in their forties, it is a sign that their laser procedure is no longer effective. This is really an expected result. The laser refractive procedures that are done today were first done in the 90s.
