i have been using contact lenses since 2001, can i go for laser surgery?
are there restrictions for laser surgery? i was told that you must have cornea thickness right to go ahead for laser surgery. how much does it cost for a single eye ? will they operate both eyes simultaneously or one at a time. i want more details about laser surgery . please help me out.
Yes.
As I’ve been going to an eye doctor for most of my life, I think I can help you out here, from a patient perspective, anyway.
For the price, it can depend on the doctor, but generally it runs around $2000 or more per eye. I would go to the best doctor available in your area, even if it costs more. Your eye doctor will have to evaluate your eyes and make sure you are a good canidate. They’ll look for a few things:
1 – The ‘flatness’ of your cornea. I cannot get lasik because of this, my eyes are too flat due to my astigmatism, and there’s no way to reshape my cornea at this time.
2 – whether or not your vision is stable enough to warrant lasik. If your eyes are still getting slowly worse, it wouldn’t be a good idea, because LASIK only fixes eyes as they are now. If your vision hasn’t stabilized, then you shouldn’t get it yet, because your eyes can still get worse and make the laser surgery pointless, or at least, less valuable.
Yes, you should get both eyes done at once. With contacts, you could just wear one lens, but it would mess up your glasses perscription, if you already had glasses.
The procedure is done while you are awake, it’s pretty painless from what I understand and very quick. You can go home the same day and rest and be good to go within a day.
Good luck
