COLOUR BLIND HELP O:?

I applyed for the Canadian Forces as an ACS Tech and got in. My medical and apptitude tests were perfect. However i was slightly too colour blind to do the job. They said there were 4 levels of colour blindness ( 1 being not very and 4 being severly . I was a 3 and in order to go into ACS you need to be a 2 or lower.

My question is… Iv been told you cant cure colour blindness but is there a way to improve your vision of colours at least a little bit? so i can get to be a level 2 or lower? laser eye surgery? contacts? anything? Or is there a way to repair it completely?

This is something I faintly remember from optometry school over 20 years ago. You can’t improve your color vision but you may be able to distinguish colors by wearing a red lens in one eye and a green lens in the other. The technique seems to involve the fact that green objects would appear darker through the eye with the red lens than they do through the eye with the green lens. I am not sure if this technique involves shutting one eye at a time or if you can train yourself to make this distinction with both eyes open. Another problem is that there are no commercially available red contact lenses. I am not sure which color vision tests could be passed with this technique. In the 20 years I have been in practice, I have never prescribed anything like this.
