lasik laser eye surgery

would i be able to get lasik laser eye surgery if i have type 1 diabetes and what are the after effects?
Diabetes is a relative contra-indication to LASIK. Your LASIK eligibility depends on your refractive error (near or farsightendness) and astigmatism, your cornea (toporgaphy, thickness, etc) and whether you have any existing diabetic retinopathy. I think refractive surgeons are more willing to do people with DM now than in the past, but I recommend if you are interested, have an evalasikon from the person in your area who has the most LASIK experience. These docs are easy to find on the American Academy of Ophthalmology(aao.org) or American Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery (ASCRS.org) websites. You have to weigh the reasons for wanting to be out of your glasses or contacts against the cost, the permanent surgical manipulation of your cornea, and the fact that, unfortunately, many type I diabetics develop significant retinopathy.
