is laser eye surgery for everyone

Question about Laser eye surgery?

What does it meen when they say “if laser eye surgery is suitable for you” Why do you need to get your eyes checked before a laser eye surgery? I thought it was available to everyone with bad eye sight.

Laser surgery won’t help your vision if you’re farsighted, and I don’t think it will help astigmatism, either, although I could be wrong about that. So it depends on WHY you have bad eyesight.

Also, they shave off a portion of the cornea in the surgery, so they need to make sure you have enough cornea to spare. And if you have particularly dry eyes, or some other conditions (glaucoma, I think) laser eye surgery may not be an appropriate or safe option for you.
