Why do they give eye drops at the eye doctor?
I don’t like having eye drops when I get my eyes checked. They sting like hell! And are very uncomfortable. So why does the eye doctor have to put drops in your eye? Is there any way the eye doctor is able to check my eyes without having to use eye drops? I am so afraid of eye drops.
There are two different times an Eye Doctor will use eye drops.
They will use eye drops that are yellow in color, when they test your eye pressure. (Best pressure test)
If the Doctor uses the pressure testing machine that blows a puff of air into your eyes, then no drops are needed for that pressure test.
Then when the Eye Doctor wants to be able to see deep within your eyes he will dilate your eyes by using two different drops, the first one numbs your eye and the second drop actually dilates your eye.
The second does sting like hell if they don’t use the first one. I have had my eyes dilated before when they had ran out of the first drop. I lived. LOL
The Doctor must use drops to be able to see your retina for any signs of disease.
