bright eyes drops

i wear contacts and im able to sleep in them why do my eyes seem to be so sensitive to light?

i had slept with my contacts in and the very next morning i could hardly open my eyes so i put in some eye drops and took them out and then rinsed my eyes out again but as soon as i went to go back to my bedroom my eyes could hardly look at anything bright. the blood vessles in my eyes seemed to be bloodshoot looking and the color of them looked like dried blood. can anyone explain this to me and why its happening.?
