optical express laser eye surgery
I’m considering an eye surgery?
Hello, I’m planning on joining the police however, my eyesight is below the minimum requirement. -3.5 in right eye and -4 in left eye. I had a look on the Optical Express website and read about LASIK laser eye surgery. Does anyone know how much it would actually cost (£) and if it is a risky procedure. I currently wear contact lenses and I don’t mind them, the only reason why I’m considering the surgery is because I want to join the Police force. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks janet. Looks like you were very lucky since you did not experience any problems after the surgery. After the surgery, how quickly were you able to see properly?
Also, does anyone know how much the surgery would cost in Scotland ?
The average of a good doctor could be like 1500-3000 dollars for each eye.
What you should think first apart from the money, is the side effects.
The most common after LASIK is DES (Dry Eyes Syndrome) due to the flap which is cut and doesn’t heal, so that it creates DES. It has been also reported that most people get halos and have photophobia. The percentages though for these are really low.
Usually, after few hours after lasik, the pain is gone, you can see clearly and you only feel dryness and discomfort. If you get the surgery, the best is to stay 1 week at home and go to your eye doctors for check-ups after 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and 1 year.
Wish you to take the right decision for yourself. Good luck!
