Where should I go for the best laser eye surgeon in Sydney, Australia ?
My contact lens prescription is -11.0 on both eyes and have asigmatism.
Every country and location has a medical board. Doctors who have problems get listed as having citations, etc. When you choose a doctor don’t go to a chop shop clinic. Pick a board-certified ophthalmologist who has specialized in laser correction. He should take a complete history, check your eyes – especially your corneas for thickness & other factors, and do a thorough eye exam before he ever agrees to do laser on you.
Chop shop docs can put thru a dozen patients an hour and don’t care how many are left blinded or with permanent problems. They don’t do complete histories or eye exams. They want you to sign on the dotted line. Some offer same day surgery the same day – or next day after you walk in!! Boy, is that a red flag!!!! Remember laser is NOT without risks! A high percentage end up with night vision problems, not to mention risk of blindness, etc.
Ask the doctor up front for his full credentials, where & when he trained, how many problems he’s had, [if he claims none, run.....he's lying]. and where he got his laser training & how long it’s been since he took a refresher in the latest procedures. Good docs don’t mind bragging about their backgrounds. Any doc who tries to give you the brush -off on this you leave – fast.
good luck!
