What is best for a red, scratchy, dry eye?

I woke up with my right eye red and dry. Think I may have slept with it open against my pillow. I am taking eye drops but they don’t seem to be helping much.
I know it’s not pink eye, I have had it before. No mucus or anything. Just feels dried out.

Were you drinking last night? otherwise, it seems unlikely your eye was open
Was there a dry mucus around your eye this morning?
Not being smartarsed here, try shutting it for 20 minutes and applying a cool,wet facecloth to your closeye treatment
