I had lasic surgery on my eyes abt 2yrs ago and they get really red and dry, what is the best medication?

My eyes really hurt and get blury, sometimes with a film like substance in them. What can use to make this better?

Your first step is to visit your eye doctor. Dry eyes commonly present the symptoms you describe, but there may be more serious problems causing your difficulties.

What kind of treatment you need depends upon the exact nature and cause of your red, dry eyes. The tear film itself has three layers and each needs something different. The channels that carry the tear liquids can be squeezed closed by inflammation, so an anti-inflammatory like Restasis may be appropriate. The punctum drains away the dirty tears and needs to regulate the loss of tears. Allergies and allergy medications can present the same symptoms as dry eyes. If you are going to use artifical tears, then preservative-free artifical tears are almost always the best. The preservatives used in artificial tears are a mild toxin. Frequent use can build up the toxin and irritate the eyes. Preservative-free artificial tears come in single use vials and are a bit more expensive than the ones that come in a multi-use bottle.
