How to cure an infected eye?

Saturday night I slept in my contacts and this morning I woke up and my left eye was in a lot of pain. It was swelled up and red and every time I saw lights my eye went into a sharp pain. I have put eye drops in it every 3 hours and have managed the swelling to go down some. I skipped school today how do I cure it so I can go to school tomorrow?
