optic express

please answer question i dnt get it?
(i) Bandwidth is measured in ____ or expressed in ____ [choose m, Hz, s, or bps]
(ii) Above the cut off_____signals are severely_____ [choose attenuated, amplified, time, frequency]
(iii) The_____the bandwidth the _____the data is transmitted [choose narrower, faster, slower, or wider]
(iv) A coaxial cable has a wider bandwidth than a ______cable [choose fibre optic or twisted pair]
(v) A typical broadband connection has a bandwidth of _____ and is expressed in units of _____[choose 100, 1000, Gbps, Mbps, bps]
Sounds like your doing homework. Bandwidth is no longer measured in bps. kps is the normal measure though some measure in mps today. So none of your choices are correct of the first one. You might as well go with bps as it’s likely the correct answer.
Frequency and Attenuated are I think the answers your looking for on 2. It’s the only answers that make sense given the question. I’m just guessing from context.
3 wider faster.
4 twisted pair. Think about it, optical is FAST. Hard to work with but fast. Twisted pair is RJ11, Cat 5, etc.
Actually, your answer choices are wrong. A typical network has 100 mps though more and more are going to gigabit switches. Most people have 10/100 nic cards but your only doing 10 mbps with Cable or DSL if THAT fast. That’s the theoretical max speed. Just like the old dial up days a 14.4 might under perfect conditions get you 14.x speeds but never 14.4. Most of the time you were under 10,x kps with a 14.4 modem. The bandwidth is just not there. So your possible answers were misleading. Should be 10 and mbps. I’d go with whatever your text book and or instructor had said in this case. Maybe the 1000 bps is what they are looking for. In the real world that’s translated to mbps. Arguements with one who gives you your grades rarely turns out well
It’s also a great example of how worthless IT programs are. They are full of misinformation and live in an ideal world not the reality that is IT. They teach for certs instead of preparing people for real world work. If your serious about getting into IT get serious about doing work not in the text books. There is one thing you must learn to be good at IT and that is how to teach yourself. The technology changes too fast and once your in the field education is a rare luxury. Half the projects I’ve completed if I was lucky I bought a book and that was my entire education in the technology when I started. Many things I’ve done there WERE NO books around. I had to figure it out as I went and my documentation from the efforts went to help others who followed just as I often find solutions to many problems with a simple Google search. If networking is your thing hit the garage sales and build you a network with obsolete PCs then break it in every way you can. You’ll learn more in a month of doing that than a 4 year degree will teach you. If you want to be a programmer write programs for yourself, for friends, for anybody who wants one. They’ll push your knowledge and ability and help you become a solid coder. Once you hit the code mines you are expected to know what your doing. Other coders will have little time to help you, they have deadlines and bugs all of their own.
Wish ya luck.
